Association for Women in Science (AWIS)

What is AWIS?
AWIS is the largest multi-disciplinary science and technology organization for women in the U.S. The Penn State Chapter of AWIS is dedicated to all of the goals set forth by AWIS national and to improving the lives of women in the sciences at Penn State.

Who can join AWIS?
The local chapter here at Penn State is primarily made up of undergraduate students in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematical fields. However, any student or professional can join AWIS and would be welcomed by our local chapter. Join Now!

Penn State’s AWIS Annual Events:
The Penn State Chapter of AWIS along with the WISE Institute is responsible for organizing the annual Symposium for Women in Science conference held each fall. They also hold an annual Stayover event for potential incoming freshman in collaboration with the Eberly College of Science. Please contact us for details.

Advisors/Sponsors:
Currently the WISE Institute is the primary advisor and sponsor for the AWIS local chapter. We would welcome any faculty or staff who would be interested in advising or co-advising this student group.
