Outreach Opportunities
The WISE Institute offers male and female faculty & staff the opportunity to be involved in a variety of recruitment, retention, and professional development activities. A few examples are listed below:
- Expanding Your Horizons™
- for young girls in grades 7 and 8
- Volunteer to develop and conduct, 50-minute hands-on workshops in science, technology, engineering, or math fields
- Approximately 8-12 students in each session
- Proposals accepted in late summer and early Fall of each year.
- WISE Camps
- for high school girls entering grades 11-12
- Design and present workshops and projects to our WISE Camps
- Workshops
- 90-minute hands-on, presented twice
- Two morning sessions
- 12-18 participants in each session
- Projects
- 16-hour hands-on
- 4 hours/day M, T, W, R, student presentations on F
- 8-9 participants in each project
- Proposals for workshops and projects accepted in late fall and early spring of each year.
- Workshops
- Design and present workshops and projects to our WISE Camps
- Participate in the retention and professional development of women undergraduate and graduate students in the STEM fields through a variety of opportunities such as being an invited speaker or panel member at a conference, becoming a mentor, or advising a student group.
