American Association of University Professors (AAUP)
What is AAUP?
The American Association of University Professors' (AAUP) purpose is to advance academic freedom and shared governance, to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education, and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good.
AAUP has many programs that are geared direction toward female faculty and staff.
Who can join AAUP?
Any person who holds a professional position of teacher or researcher or related professional appointment, excluding administrators but including any member of an AAUP-represented bargaining unit in a college, university, or professional school of similar grade accredited in the United States or Canada, may be admitted to active membership in the Association. Active members fall in to one of the following categories (defined elsewhere in this glossary): Full-time, Part-time, Entrant, Joint, Retired, Graduate Student. Those not eligible for one of the categories of active membership may join as Associate members. Join Now!
