How does a student know if Penn State UBMS is for him/her?

Participating in the Penn State Upward Bound Math and Science Center is hard work! It takes a student with a great commitment to academic and personal growth to be successful in the program. If you can answer “yes” to all of the statements below, then the UBMS program might be the place for you:

    • I want to go to college.
    • I want to pursue math and /or science-related studies and careers.
    • I am committed to doing my best academically.
    • I am willing to do what is expected of me to be a better student and person.
    • I can and will come to the summer program each summer until I graduate from high school.

“This summer offered so much...the summer session contributed to reaching my goals by helping me with my study skills, time management, and my social and speaking skills.”

- Lina, participant 2000-2004, Earth and Mineral Sciences major, Penn State University

UBMS student participant, Summer 2003, Miguel.

“The summer I spent in the UBMS program contributed many things toward reaching my academic goals. It gave me character to be an individual. It gave me preparation for the future. Most importantly, it gave me true friends—friends that will stick with me and never leave. This is the type of place I want to be until I graduate.”

-Miguel, participant summers 2003-2005, Penn State University
