The program is funded through the U.S. Department of Education's TRIO programs and hosted by Penn State. Created in 1964, TRIO programs help youth and adults enter college, graduate, and move on to participate more fully in America's economic and social life.
Who Provides our Services?
The Educational Talent Search staff members include a program director and staff assistant located at the Sylvia Newcombe Center. Education specialists are located at William Penn Senior High School, Edgar Fahs Smith, and Hannah Penn Middle Schools. Working in cooperation with school guidance counselors, administration, and faculty, as well as parents, program staff assist students in their career planning. Talent Search services are provided to students through group meetings and seminars at participating schools, and individually by appointment.
