Overview of the Target Communities
Aliquippa, Clairton, and New Kensington, three of the five target areas, are all nestled in the hills and valleys of the Appalachian plateau in southwestern Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh, the nearest city where the Ohio, Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers meet, is located within an hour's drive of all three communities. Aliquippa sits about 40 miles northwest on the banks of the Ohio; New Kensington sits about 20 miles northeast on the banks of the Allegheny; and Clairton is situated some 15 miles southeast on the banks of the Monongahela.

Farrell and Sharon are two small neighboring communities located about 70 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. These communities are also in close proximity to Youngstown, Ohio--a large, urban area sitting 15 miles west across the state border.
