Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS):
CAPS provides group and individual counseling, crisis intervention, and psychological and psychiatric evaluations for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as prevention and consultation services for the University community. CAPS services can help students resolve personal concerns that may interfere with their academic progress, social development, and satisfaction at Penn State. Some of the more common concerns include difficulty with friends, roommates, or family members; depression and anxiety; sexual identity; lack of motivation or difficulty relaxing, concentrating or studying; eating disorders; sexual assault and sexual abuse recovery; and uncertainties about personal values and beliefs. The University Escort Service:
The escort service is designed to enhance your safety if you must walk after dark. The Escort Service is provided free to all students, faculty, and staff of the University. Escorts are available from dusk until dawn, 365 days a year. The Escort Service will provide you with a walking escort to or from any location within a reasonable walking distance off campus. Off-campus mobile escorts will be granted only to the residence of the person being escorted. Both mobile and walking services generally are limited to within a one- mile radius of central campus. Call 865-9255 any time between dusk and dawn to arrange for an immediate escort. It is not necessary to call in advance as escorts are on duty, ready to be dispatched as needed.

General Purpose Classrooms:
A web site that alphabetically lists all general purpose classrooms, provides photographs of the room, the size, the number of seats, the type of seats and tables, the type of technology available in the room, and any special characteristics of the room. Library Services for People with Disabilities:
The University Library administers an assistive technology lab for individuals with disabilities. The Office of Library's Services for People with Disabilities works together with the Office for Disability Services and the Information Technology Services/Classroom and Lab Computing to provide individualized, flexible services and resources for persons with disabilities. The Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity: Diversity is an integral part of the University's strategic planning process through the document, A Framework to Foster Diversity at Penn State: 1998-2003. Created in July of 1990, the Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity fosters diversity at Penn State in many ways. The office supports and evaluates the University's many diversity initiatives and serves as an advocate for diverse populations within the University community. In addition to addressing the specific concerns of historically underrepresented racial/ethnic minorities, Educational Equity works in support of people with disabilities; veterans; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people; and women. The University Parking Office:
The Parking Office provides a wide variety of options relating to the parking and transportation needs of the PSU community and visitors. Residence Life: If a student has a significant chronic physical or emotional condition that may impact the assigned housing environment, it is required that the student submit the “Verification Form for Students Requesting Changes to the Housing Environment Due to a Significant Chronic Physical or Emotional Condition,” which can be obtained by contacting the Housing Assignment Office at 814-865-5423 or by going to the Housing Assignment Office at 206 Housing and Food Services Building, University Park, PA 16802.
The appropriate University personnel will review the completed form to determine if a student is eligible for consideration with regard to the requested changes in the housing environment. When the documentation warrants further consideration, the appropriate University personnel will refer to the Office for Disability Services.
Housing will notify a student in writing of any recommendation after the student’s documentation has been reviewed. To assure that the documentation is reviewed in an expedient manner, the health care provider/ professional must complete the verification form in detail.
If a student is offered a change to the housing environment, additional cost may be associated with the resulting assignment or requests. The Telephone Information Service (TIPS):
Penn State has a recorded telephone information service (TIPS) number, which includes a daily updated listing of construction barriers on campus (number code #349). Call TIPS at 814-863-1234, listen to the instructions, and enter the number code. If you have any questions about any of the barriers, telephone at 814-865-4731. The University Office of International Programs:
Education Abroad at Penn State offers over 130 programs in 42 countries and administers over 60 programs which are either specially designed semester length programs or reciprocal exchange programs. Penn State Summer Education Abroad Programs are administered by Conference and Institutes at Penn State and are open to enrollment by Penn State undergraduate students and undergraduate students from other institutions based upon eligibility requirements.
