LIFT Text Transcoder

UsableNet has now added a Text Only Version display service called the LIFT Text Transcoder. Web Developers wishing to provide a textual alternative on their web pages can include a link to UsableNet to initate the transcoder. The transcoder will create a text only version of the web page "on the fly" and deliver the text in a user's browser.

The Pennsylvania State University subscribes to a annual contract supplied by UsableNet allowing the entire PSU web community including Common Wealth campuses to utilize this feature.

Instructions

To incorporate the Text Only feature you must:

Contact UsableNet to submit your web address to be included in their database.

Create a text link on your web page titled "Text Only Version" using this hyperlink: http://transcoder.usablenet.com:8080/tt and placing your web page path at the end.

For example, the link from AccessPSU main page,
(http://www.equity.psu.edu/accesspsu)

Would be
http://transcoder.usablenet.com:8080/tt/
http:/www.equity.psu.edu/accesspsu/
